Drought Update
On July 31, 2023, Liberty Utilities (Apple Valley Ranchos Water) Corp. filed Advice Letter 276-W with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to deactivate Stage 2 and activate Stage 1 in its Schedule No. 14.1 Water Shortage Contingency Plan with Voluntary Reductions for its service areas, including Apple Valley and Yermo.
On March 23, 2023, Governor Newsom signed Executive Order N-5-23 to reflect the current state of California’s water supply. Executive Order N-5-23 modified the 2022 drought Executive Order N-7-22. The modifications included ending the 15 – 20% water use reduction and ending the requirement to implement Stage 2 of water shortage contingency plans. The modifications did not remove the prohibition on wasteful water use and the ban of watering decorative grass in the CII sector (commercial, industrial, and institutional areas). To review Schedule No. 14.1 and recommended voluntary conservation efforts for Stage 1 and for the full list of prohibited water waste uses please visit the Drought page.
