The Project includes the rebuild and colocation of approximately 0.5 mile of new double-circuit 120 kilovolt (kV) transmission line. The purpose of this portion of the Project is to connect the existing northern terminus of Liberty Utilities’ 650 Line to the North Truckee Substation.
The new transmission line will be constructed with steel poles installed adjacent to the existing transmission line, which is comprised of wood poles. The wire on the wood poles will be transferred to the new steel poles and then the wood poles will be removed. Existing wire will also be removed from four existing wood poles connecting the northern terminus of Liberty Utilities’ 650 Line to the North Truckee Substation. Approximately 15 feet will be removed from the top of the four wood poles, as they will no longer be needed after the transmission wire has been removed.
