The water systems have over 250 miles of pipeline, the oldest of which was installed in 1936-1939. Replacing older pipeline helps reduce the risk of water leaks, supports fire protection communities, and maintains service reliability for our customers.

Strengthening the Reliability of Our Water System

One of the keys to maintaining a safe and reliable water system are new water system valves. These valves help minimize service interruptions and reduce the risk of damage caused by leaks.
Exercising fire hydrants helps to identify the hydrants that must be replaced to maintain fire protection for customers. The placement of new fire hydrants is determined by several factors, including the location that best meets fire protection standards.
Some water service lines will be replaced to continue to maintain reliable water service for customers by helping to minimize service interruptions, reduce the risk of water leaks, and maintain water system operability.
The replacement of existing electrical motor control centers (MCC), motor drives, pressure tank(s), and other production site improvements help maintain the reliability of water supply sources.
The recent drought emphasizes the importance of having groundwater pumping rights in the central Groundwater Basin. These rights are more cost-effective than purchasing imported water and allows Liberty to avoid having to ration the water supply.
Installing improvements to reservoirs helps meet updated code requirements. These improvements will also help prevent corrosion to continue providing safe, reliable water service to current and future customers.
The replacement of well treatment equipment and the installation of new groundwater wells and well treatment systems will help comply with new and/or emerging state and federal water quality regulations.
