Liberty is committed to giving back to the people and communities we serve.  The term corporate citizenship is taken seriously, as Liberty has established committees across the enterprise that are tasked with identifying local organizations to support and other ways to give back.

One of these organizations is Bread and Broth, a food outreach program in South Lake Tahoe. Bread and Broth is a non-profit organization operated entirely by volunteers that works to ease hunger in the Lake Tahoe south shore community.  In line with Liberty’s diversity and inclusion principles, Bread and Broth welcomes volunteers of all faiths and nationalities working together to serve the working poor, families in need, elderly on fixed incomes, hungry school children, and those who are homeless.

“The programs we offer and the food we provide our community is a direct result of our generous donors and supporters,” said Carol Gerard, Interim Director and Fundraising Chairperson of Bread and Broth.  “We wouldn’t be able to make an impact or expand our offerings in the way that we have without the generous contributions and volunteerism from organizations like Liberty. We are very grateful to all of our contributors and volunteers, big or small.”

Liberty has supported Bread and Broth for 10 years and currently sponsors a Monday meal quarterly complete with a volunteer team to help serve and clean up.  “This organization does so much for our community by addressing food insecurity and we are proud to be a regular sponsor,” said Jennifer Guenther, Senior Manager of Customer Solutions and Chair of the contribution committee for Liberty. “I really look forward to volunteering at the Liberty sponsored Bread and Broth Monday Meal” said Kurt Althof, Communications Manager for Liberty.  “It really feels good to help those that are truly in need and our contribution committee is always eager to support this worthy cause.”
