There are multiple factors that Liberty assesses when evaluating the need to shut off power (also known as a PSPS). Liberty endeavors to provide customers that may be impacted by a PSPS with as much notice as possible. If there is the potential of a PSPS, Liberty will contact customers through calls, texts, and/or emails, using the contact information on file.
Generally, the timing of notifications (when possible) is as follows:
- Approximately 48 hours before power is shut off;
- Approximately 24 hours before power is shut off;
- Just before power is shut off;
- During the PSPS;
- Once power has been safely restored.
